Certification Process

At the core of GEMCY’s value proposition is its rigorous and transparent certification process, designed to ensure that every piece of jewelry and every watch listed on the platform meets the highest standards of authenticity, quality, and value. By leveraging state-of-the-art technology and expert evaluations, GEMCY’s certification process not only protects buyers and sellers but also builds trust in the marketplace.

Step 1: Submission

Items can be submitted for certification through two methods:

  • Type A: Self-Submission: Sellers upload detailed images and descriptions of their items via GEMCY’s platform, supported by AI-driven tools that assist with professional text generation and price recommendations. The item remains with the seller until it is sold, after which it is sent to GEMCY for final certification.
  • Type B: Submission through Local Jeweler: Sellers submit their items directly to a local participating jeweler from GEMCY’s trusted network. The item is immediately assessed for authenticity, quality, and value before being listed on the marketplace.

Step 2: Expert Evaluation

Once an item is submitted for certification, GEMCY’s team of experts thoroughly evaluates the piece. Each item undergoes a detailed inspection to verify its authenticity, quality of materials, and craftsmanship. GEMCY’s process includes:

  • Material Analysis: Using advanced techniques like X-ray fluorescence (XRF) technology, the molecular composition of the item is analyzed. This non-invasive method allows experts to precisely determine the composition of precious metals such as gold, silver, platinum, and other alloys.
  • Visual and Craftsmanship Inspection: Skilled jewelers examine the item for design integrity, condition, and originality. For watches, this includes an assessment of the movement, casing, and other technical components.
  • Authenticity Check: The item’s provenance is carefully researched, with cross-references made against known databases of luxury goods to ensure it is not counterfeit or tampered with.

Step 3: Blockchain-Based Certification

Upon successful completion of the evaluation, each item is assigned a unique certificate of authenticity, which is stored on GEMCY’s proprietary VEVA blockchain. The certification includes all relevant details such as:

  • Material composition and quality
  • Expert evaluation results
  • Ownership history and provenance

The blockchain guarantees that this certification is immutable—once recorded, it cannot be altered or tampered with. This permanent digital record, stored as a non-fungible token (NFT), ensures full transparency and traceability, providing buyers with verifiable proof of authenticity and provenance.

Step 4: Listing and Sale

Certified items are listed on the GEMCY marketplace with full details of their blockchain-backed certification. Buyers can access the certification data at any time, giving them complete confidence in the authenticity and value of the item. Once sold, the item is securely shipped to the buyer with its accompanying blockchain-backed digital certificate.

Key Features of the Certification Process

  • Transparency: Every step of the certification process is visible to both buyers and sellers, with data stored permanently on the VEVA blockchain for full traceability.
  • Security: Blockchain technology ensures that certification records are tamper-proof, providing an immutable digital ledger of authenticity.
  • Trust: By working with certified local jewelers and experts, GEMCY ensures that each item is thoroughly evaluated, giving buyers the peace of mind that they are purchasing genuine, high-quality luxury goods.
